Your Wedding Your Way

Your wedding day should be all about you especially your ceremony.  You are unique both as individuals and as a couple and this should be reflected in the most important part of your day, the part where you say ‘I Do’.

I create ceremonies which are personal, fun, heartfelt and bespoke which celebrate who you are now and the epic journey you are about to begin.

Having been a wedding planner for over 18 years I have a wealth of knowledge and experience, however I can honestly say that the honour of writing your ceremony script and being your celebrant on the day is by far the best.

Why Have a Celebrant?

Do you want to have ceremony that is the same as everyone else’s?

Do you want to hear the same words and say the same things as all the other weddings you have been to?

No????

Well having a celebrant led wedding means that you don’t have to. You are free to choose what is said and what you say. Free to decide where you get married, what time you get married and how long your ceremony lasts. Free to include whatever aspects are important to you whether they are religious or not.

You want to have a special prayer included?  Perfect!

You want your guests to sing?  I love that!

You want to include a traditional custom?  Of course, you can.

My job is to create the most perfect ceremony just for you.

We will get together either by phone, or Zoom, or in person so I can get to know you and what will make your ceremony perfect.

I will then put together a script which you can alter and change until you are completely happy. Finally I will deliver your ceremony on the day making your wedding everything you want it to be.

FAQ's

  • Having a celebrant-led wedding allows you to overcome the strict, traditional restrictions that are found in religious and civil ceremonies.

You will have the opportunity to bring your personality to the ceremony, creating something that is truly unique and captures the soul of your relationship.

Your ceremony will be completely personalised with no restrictions on when, where or how it needs to be. You can write your own vows, and choose whichever readings, poems or customs you wish.

Your celebrant will get to know you and create something that is as unique as you are.

  • Unfortunately not at this time (although celebrants across the land are hopeful this might change soon with the help of the Law Commission’s final report into wedding law reform).

You will need to complete your legal marriage paperwork separately at your local Registry Office (which can be done on a date of your choice and can take as little as 10 minutes).

If you would like to have a step by step guide on how you can legally marry and have a celebrant led wedding read this fantastic article by Jenny Knight.

  • Yes. This is YOUR day, YOUR wedding.

If you would like you wedding to ‘look legal’ or for your guests to not know that your legal paperwork is being done separately then this is not a problem at all.

Whilst your ceremony may not be legal it will still be your wedding day – the day you declare in front of all your friends & family that you will spend the rest of your life with your soul mate.

  • In the UK, Registrars are bound by their legal format.

There are strict rules and limitations to the content of the service they can provide.

There are restrictions on content (for example, no religious elements or customs may be included).

They have set times on when a ceremony can be performed and also how long it can be. As well as restrictions on what they can and cannot say or do.

Also, you will not know the person delivering the most important part of your day.

A registrar will likely have more than one wedding ceremony to do in a day (especially in the summer months). This is why a registrar needs each ceremony to be streamlined and time limited as they are likely to have another wedding to get to.

As a celebrant, I will only have one wedding – YOURS.

  • My fees are £795.

Additional fees for travel and accommodation may apply if you are not getting married at Berkeley Castle and depending on the venue location.

To have your legal paperwork completed at your local registry office the fees should be around £60. This includes a standard statutory registration for the couple plus two witnesses and one Marriage or Civil Partnership certificate.
